I sure wish I knew the answer to that!

You'll have to learn to do a few things.
If you have compulsions - you've got to stop giving in to them. As far as the obsessions, you will have to just let them pass on through....and not phase you. Don't pay them ANY attention, and dont try and solve the riddle You may never get rid of it completely, however, you may get rid of the majority of the anxiety caused by it, and the intrusive thoughts may exist....but be manageable and tolerable. Good Luck. |

The anxiety and panic caused by the obsessive thoughts is the hardest to deal with in my opinion. I wish I could get rid of that. Also, it is hard to just let the thoughts pass through because they keep REPLAYING and sticking in my head tormenting me...

the thoughts are the worst for me. the fact that such a thought would enter my brain is the worst element of it. the subsequent anxiety and panic i can deal with. for me, i just wish the thoughts never existed, because i always feel somehow different in personality, or tainted when i have the thoughts. i don't really have a good strategy for managing OCD except talking to others about my obsessions. usually they seem so ridiculous when said out loud that i don't worry about having had such thoughts as much. but sometimes thats only a temporary fix

Worrying that the thoughts will come true is another WORST part of OCD-no matter how much reassurance I get. And not knowing what's OCD or real... Suggestions please?

InMyOwnWorld, one of the things you could do is just remember that only you can let your obsessions happen...you have to actually make a choice to put your obsessions into action in order them to come true. the fact that you are very afraid that they will come true is the exact reason why they will not come true -- unless you let them, which you won't, because you don't want them to!
